Compassionate Hillingdon
Coordinating and supporting community relationships across Hillingdon
What we do
Compassionate Hillingdon is a collaborative project that supports people who might need support in Hillingdon. Our work revolves around a commitment to those living with a life limiting illness, older people and those suffering from isolation. We do this by facilitating reciprocal friendships between like minded people who live close to one another.
This project is part of the ‘Compassionate Communities’ movement. Compassionate Communities is built on a combined ethos of a Public Health Approach to Community Development, Palliative and End of Life Care.
Finding support that's right for you
Everyone is different, is interested in different things and has a different story to tell. Once we have a better idea of your interests and needs we can help pair you with a Compassionate Friend who’s right for you.
Your Compassionate Friend will call you weekly and can arrange to take you out if you wish or you may prefer them to visit you at home and just stay in and have a chat. Their support will be based around you and the things that you enjoy doing but they will also support you with things that are worrying you or have become problematic.
This might range from having someone to accompany you to an activity that you enjoy, helping you with shopping and helping with a pet, to using the internet and helping manage correspondence.
